Topics & Readings
This page highlights key readings that shaped my growth as a clinician and advocate. Each annotation explains what the work is about and how it influences my approach to antiracism, housing justice, trauma-informed care, disability support, and veteran services. These texts reflect the values and evidence base that guide my practice.

In The Case for Rage, Meisha Cherry argues that anger can be a moral and necessary force in the fight against oppression when it is focused, informed, and rooted in justice. Her work reframes rage as a tool for collective action rather than a reaction to be suppressed, especially within marginalized communities
Anti- Racism

In The Fire Next Time, James Baldwin reflects on racism in America through personal narrative and prophetic critique, urging the nation to confront its moral failures. He argues that genuine change requires honesty, love, and a radical reevaluation of the systems that oppress Black communities.

In Decolonizing Therapy, Dr. Jennifer Mullan argues that traditional mental health systems often ignore the impacts of colonialism, racism, and generational trauma on marginalized communities. She calls for therapeutic practices that honor ancestral wisdom, collective healing, and liberation rather than framing people’s survival responses as dysfunction.
